Overview

Online job boards can be an excellent resource for both job seekers and employers. Unfortunately too many boards exist which are overly complex and hard to use. Brown Beagle Software in conjunction with Denver-based company The LoHi List have succeeded where others have failed.

Brief

To develop a robust job board that was feature-packed but easy to use. From a user experience perspective it was important that the board remained uncluttered and simple to navigate.

Our Solution

  • Job board and generic posting - We developed the job board component in just over 2 months after careful planning and strategising with the client. The generic posting ability was scoped and developed within a month.
  • Filtering posts - The ability for the site to filter through posts and update lists in real-time was one of the main requirements requested by the client. We developed a filter module that can provide instant feedback to the user, regardless of what parameters are chosen.
  • Virtual email system - All correspondence between employer and potential candidate is handled through a virtual email system. The benefits of this are -
  • Users are already familiar with email - they wouldn’t need to learn a new way of communicating.
  • All communication is centralised.
  • By not using authors email addresses we can eliminate spam.
  • Virtual email addresses allow us to monitor user metrics and site activity. This in turn enables our client to gradually fine tune the performance of the site.

    Result

    The LoHi List is a site that showcases a dynamic, updated version of what a job board can be. Minimalist in style, flexible and easy to use, it offers job seekers and employers a better way of finding each other. The client saw a lot of potential in the product and has since started using the board for real estate and product listings, as well as employment.
