Altnet / Kazaa

Overview

Originally making their name as a peer-to-peer file sharing application, Kazaa has since restructured and is now concentrating on providing web-based music subscription services.

Brief

Working alongside several other Australian development companies, we were asked to implement a series of significant modifications to both the public-facing and back-end portions of the website.

Our Solution

• Design and back-end integration - Working closely with the design team, we integrated the latest user-friendly interface with the back-end and mapped existing content to the new site. We developed a password recovery module and the featured artist/album/song area of the system.
• Created administrative controls - Brown Beagle developed several administrative controls allowing the site owners the ability to configure and add specific content quickly and easily.
• High traffic considerations - In order to work seamlessly on such a high traffic site, we were required to carefully plan and monitor any development with the client and project managers.
• Constant contact - Contact with the client and the other development teams were a key factor in the success of this project. In order to achieve this we participated in two stand up meetings per week via Skype.

Result

The Altnet site now attracts tens of thousands of subscribers and has over a million tracks and ringtones available for download. The enhancements that Brown Beagle Software has made will further enhance and streamline the delivery of this media.
